Scaling
Food and bacteria accumulates in our teeth when we eat and drink which becomes dental plaque. Over time, the dental plaque if not removed will calcify and form tartar. Daily brushing and flossing may remove some plaque but tartar is hard to remove. It has to be removed by a dentist via scaling. Scaling involves the use of a dental instrument that loosen and remove plaque and tartar without damaging your gums and teeth.
Polishing
Polishing is usually done after scaling. Polishing helps remove surface stains from your teeth to make it smooth and shiny. Our dentists will use a dental instrument with a special paste to polish your teeth.
