With the emergence of dental implants, removable prosthesis took a toll in the otherwise cost cautious patient. Very often, the advantages of dentures are overshadowed by the convenience of a fixed prosthesis and its application is much neglected. In contrary, these are several aspects in which the humble removable prosthesis in the completely edentulous proved to be superior to the fixed prosthesis.
There is, therefore, an objective need to revisit the relevance of the acrylic dentures as a form of the restorative prosthesis in the full mouth rehabilitation in today’s modern dentistry. The demise of implant-retained overdentures is attributed to the over simplified ideology of two simple implants to resolve an overtly complicated situation. Contrary to this, making is one of the most technical and requires long term follow-ups.
‘Formula to a Successful Implant Retained Overdenture Workshop’ is aimed to highlight the beauty of a removable denture, its superiority and its application as a form of a full mouth reha- bilitation prosthesis with implants as retention.
The objective is to provide an overview of ensuring a long term success of an implant-retained overdenture.
