Fillings

Filling is a type of restorative dentistry treatment used to repair tooth fractures, tooth decay or surface damages of the teeth. Dental filling materials can include composite, porcelain and silver amalgam. The filling is used to even out tooth surfaces for a better bite.

The dental filling procedure begins with the dentist preparing the tooth’s surrounding areas. The decay or damage is removed and the area is cleansed to remove bacteria or debris before the filling materials is filled into the tooth.

Composite fillings are mercury-free. It is made of a plastic material matching natural tooth colour and is most commonly used to replace missing parts of a tooth. As the material bonds to the tooth, composite fillings restores most of the original strength and natural appearance of the tooth. Besides offering durability and strength, composite fillings are also more aesthetically pleasant.

Porcelain fillings are made from ceramics. They are more resistant to staining and abrasion and can last for a longer period of time. Porcelain fillings are usually custom made to fit your cavity perfectly as well as match the rest of your teeth.
